Iristel Deploys IMSWorkX Application Server for Mobile Gateway Services

‘Internet of Things’ Applications use XpressWorkX Application Server as the SIP to GSM MAP Gateway for Voice Calls

April 13, 2016 – ROCHESTER, NY, and TORONTO – IMSWorkX, Inc., a global provider for telecom applications and service platforms, today announced that Iristel, Canada’s largest and fastest-growing Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service provider, together with Ice Wireless, a 4G/LTE mobile network operator, successfully deployed the XpressWorkX Application Server to provide mobile gateway services for many new IoT voice call initiatives.

The benefits from these Internet of Things (IoT) applications are numerous; from drivers avoiding road accidents and traffic jams to trucking companies monitoring their fleets and ensuring valuable cargo is not lost or stolen.

The XpressWorkX Application Server is the keystone in IMSWorkX’s product suite. This platform enables rapid deployment of applications and services in any voice network. With full support of legacy as well as next generation interfaces, the XpressWorkX Application Server is the ideal fit for this type of mobile gateway function. This gateway bridges the voice call establishment between the GSM MAP and SIP networks for calls made to connected cars or other IoT devices requiring switched telephone network integration.

“With this platform, we are able to offer a host of services such as tracking, monitoring, and telemetry for many industry verticals across our national footprint under one umbrella.  An example is the Connected Car platform where drivers access emergency services and vehicles automatically report back any anomalies to their respective service centres,” said Samer Bishay, President & CEO of both Iristel and Ice Wireless.

Since 1999, Toronto-based Iristel operates Canada’s largest facilities-based local voice network extending Coast-to-Coast-to-Coast. Since the acquisition of ICE Wireless, Iristel has become a leader in wireless services in the Far North as well. This new initiative will connect tens of thousands of new devices on the wireless & wireline networks across Canada.

The scale of this new program is an impressive undertaking for Iristel, and was completed in a very aggressive timeline.  “We were very impressed with how quickly IMSWorkX was able to meet our specific needs for this IoT voice-call initiative. The team’s commitment to delivery and integration of the gateway was key to keeping our timeline for rollout,” Iristel’s Tore Stenbeck, Director Wireless Core Networks.

IMSWorkX CEO Shannon Chevier noted “Our expertise in wireless allowed us to integrate with both SIP and GSM MAP networks and provide a solution to address the needs of this high capacity service. The calibre of the teams on both sides of this partnership is an excellent example of a collaborative effort to implement an awesome customer experience with an IoT technology.”
